Women's Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic Health/Women's Health Services

At Active Lives Physio we aim to help women with pelvic dysfunction to understand and manage their symptoms, and provide treatment to improve symptoms to help them continue doing the things they love doing.

Pelvic health physiotherapy and a supported pelvic floor muscle rehab programme has been shown to be an effective first line treatment for many pelvic health dysfunction issues.

We help women of all ages, including those who are peri-menopausal, menopausal, postnatal and nulliparous (have not had children), with a range of symptoms including:

  • Stress incontinence
  • Urgency
  • Urge incontinence
  • Overactive bladder
  • Leakage
  • Prolapse (anterior wall - cystocele, posterior wall - rectocele, uterine prolapse)
  • Vulvodynia
  • Pelvic pain
  • Coccydynia
  • Painful sex
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Vaginal atrophy

A pelvic health assessment will include a detailed discussion of your symptoms to help us understand the problem.  There will then be  assessment, which will differ depending on the problem, but can include assessment of posture, spinal or functional movement, breathing pattern, abdominal activation.

A pelvic floor assessment (external +/- internal assessment) may also be part of the assessment.  ( This is only ever carried out with your consent, after a full explanation and understanding of why this might be helpful in assessing your problem).

To book an appointment for any of these issues book a Pelvic health/Women's health assessment appointment.
